Dr. Wayne T. Holmes was the Interim Dean of General Studies and currently holds a position in the Learning Support Division at Savannah Technical College. He has held various positions throughout his 21 years of experience in elementary and post-secondary education. In addition, he believes in the simple virtues of love and compassion in teaching students from all ages and walks of life. Also, he has been involved in several private and public ventures that were derived to benefit the public at-large.
Dr. Holmes graduated high school from Urban Christian Academy and holds a Doctorate of Religious Education, along with a Master’s in Business Administration – specializing in Health Care Administration, a Master’s in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice.
Within the last year, he has participated in several initiatives to promote learning and education to include the Bill and Melinda Gates’ Foundation. Dr. Holmes has performed both locally and nationally in the Gospel Group G-Bros. (2001) Soul Stories, and currently assists in musicals and performances for non-profit organizations. Additionally, he continues to affect audiences with his children’s book “Good Morning, Everyone.” Dr. Holmes has a targeted released date for a series of children books and the website, ReadToTheWorld.Org in 2017.
Dr. Holmes unique ability to help youth and adults who are facing challenges in their personal and professional lives has made him of interest to work with children both locally and nationally. He began his teaching career as an elementary teacher at Urban Christian Academy where he specialized in individualized and accelerated education. Since then, he has taught at universities and colleges within the Coastal Empire of Georgia.
Dr. Holmes attributes much of his success to the upbringing and training provided by his mother Marsha Graham, Pastors Charles and Sandra Gordon, family members, teachers, neighbors, and the many students that have impacted his life through education.
